Nemesis Sub-Terra & Ice Age 4D at Alton Towers

Alton Towers opened its gates to the public last week along with the much anticipated debut of Nemesis Sub-Terra and Ice Age 4D. AttractionTix had a first look at these new attractions.

Nemesis Sub-Terra

Our first stop was Nemesis Sub-Terra in the Forbidden Valley located next to the Nemesis rollercoaster. The queue time was long for the first day, but the anticipation made the time fly by as we got closer to the ride entrance. The experience begins as soon as you approach the ride, with Phalanx security looking over you as they guard whatever lurks inside. They remain true to their authoritive character purveying the sense that they should not be messed with.

Once at the ride entrance, you will have a chance to store your bags and shoes. This gives a hint to what you can expect. Perhaps your feet will be dangling in the air? Will the floor suddenly give way? We don’t want to give too much away, but it is assured that you will be confronted with mystery and science fiction as the new Sub-Terra ride continues the story of the legendary Nemesis rollercoaster.

Ice Age 4D Experience

After we settled our nerves from the experience at Forbidden Valley, we headed over to Cloud Cuckoo Land where The Ice Age 4D experience had opened. The queue time for this attraction was not long and we got to watch Ice Age clips as we waited. You also have the opportunity to have your photo taken with the characters from the movie.

Once seated in the theatre, the movie starts and you experience the 4D effect immediately as snow falls from the ceiling and a blue aura shrouds the room, immersing you into the story. The environment changes with each scene as Sid the Sloth, Diego the sabre-toothed tiger and Manny the Mammoth embark on their adventure. Oh, and one more thing, beware of the Dinosaur breath!
