10 Reasons to visit London Zoo

ZSL London Zoo

London Zoo is situated in Regent’s Park, a short walk from Camden Town tube station and very easy to get to. It’s a great day out – especially if you have little ones! With the summer holidays well under way, now is the perfect time to check out one of the capital’s top attractions.

Here are the top 10 reasons why you should visit London Zoo:

1. Meet the Monkeys!

You can take a stroll through the home of these little rascals, with no barriers between them and you – a unique experience that will stay with you for the rest of summer. Definitely a crowd pleaser!

 2. The fab adventure playground

Your own little monkeys will love letting off steam at the zoo’s great park. Watch them mimic their favourite animals in a safe yet challenging environment whilst you enjoy a rest and a cheeky coffee!

3. Penguin Beach

London Zoo has England’s largest penguin pool, where you can really get-up close to the little cuties. Twice a day you can even watch the penguins dive for their food; a spectacle that few visitors can resist!

4. You can see Tigers Live!

At midday, head over to Tiger Territory to see the beautiful Sumatran tigers. Definitely a must for young and old alike; what could be lovelier than watching graceful big cats like these in the flesh?

5. There’s a good choice of eateries

No day out is complete without somewhere to rest and refuel. Picnics are great during the summer months, but, of course, sunshine is never guaranteed and when those pesky rain showers rear their heads, London Zoo’s cafés and restaurants do not disappoint. The Terrace is our top pick.

6. It’s an educational experience

London Zoo is not just a pretty face but an educational and interactive experience, both for youngsters and adults. Priding itself on “bringing down the barriers”, you will find out so much more about animals and their habitats than before!

7. You can adopt an animal…

It may not be part of your regular day out, but should you or your children fall in love with a particular animal, you may well have the chance to adopt it! For £35, you will receive a certificate and photograph, stickers, a poster and an entry ticket to the zoo so that you can come and see your new friend again. This would make a great surprise gift for Christmas or birthdays.

8. …Or be a zoo keeper for the day!

The zoo offers a range of experiences including “Keeper for the Day”. They must be booked in advance and are great for children and adults who have a keen interest in animals and are looking for a little bit more than the average day out at the zoo.

9. Animal Adventures at the Children’s Zoo

The new children’s zoo allows little ones to become acquainted with a range of sights and smells from the magnificent animal kingdom. Comprising of three zones – Tree Top, Roots and Splash – this is a fantastic way for the children to really get involved with zoo life. They will also relish the opportunity to expend some energy climbing, crawling and running about. Best of all, the Splash Zone is located near the café, meaning you can grab a coffee whilst the kids play!

10. It’s great value for money

London Zoo tickets are available from as little as £17.50 per person, which is a steal for what is offered in return. And, when you book in advance, you beat the queues, which is definitely something to remember during the school holidays!
