6 Tips for a great time whatever the weather at Disneyland Paris!

Weather at Disneyland Paris

When you’re planning a trip to Disneyland® Paris, weather can be a big factor!

Yes the weather can be pretty changeable – even at the height of summer – but it doesn’t need to spoil your fun one tiny bit as long as you remember these 6 points:

1. Don’t let bad weather dictate your whole day

The most important tip when it comes to the weather in Disneyland Paris? You can enjoy yourself rain or shine!

Yes a lot of the rides are outdoors, but many of them have sheltered queue areas, and some even have a roof over the top to protect you from showers. Dare I say it – going on a rollercoaster in the rain can even be quite fun!

Will the rides & attractions close in bad weather?

  • Closures only usually happen in heavy snow, severe storms or if there is a risk of lightning.
  • There’s no set amount of time before rides can be re-opened; this is down to the judgement of the Cast Members as to when it’s safe.
  • Outdoor shows are likely to be cancelled in the event of extremely wet weather, for the safety of the performers.
  • Outdoor parades can also be cancelled in the above weather conditions, although if the parade has already started, they usually complete the route.Slinky Dog at Disney Stars on Parade

2. Remember that the Parks will be less busy if it rains….

The main – maybe only! – advantage of a rainy day at Disneyland Paris is that local people are less likely to visit, so the Parks might not be as busy.

If you’re well-prepared for the possibility of rain (see point 6) you’ll be a step ahead of most other visitors, and can take advantage of the smaller queues.

3. Make sure you check the correct weather forecast (Hint: it’s not the one for Paris!)

Checking the weather forecast is obviously the #1 way to stay a step ahead of the elements, but make sure you check the forecast for Marne-la-Vallée – Chessy – NOT Paris! The Disney® Parks are actually about 20 miles outside of Paris so the weather may be totally different.

4. Visit one Park when it rains, the other Park when it’s dry

Disneyland Paris is actually made up of two Parks; Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park.

Walt Disney Studios® Park is generally the better one to head for if rain hits. Firstly, it has more indoor rides, Secondly it’s smaller, so the rides and attractions are closer together and you won’t get as wet walking between them.

5. Make the most of the outdoor rides while the weather is nice

You never know when the weather could take a surprise turn, so if it’s looking beautiful when you arrive at the Parks, make sure you make the most of it by going on as many of the outdoor rides as you can!

If you save the indoor rides for later, then you’ll still have lots to enjoy if bad weather does hit, and you won’t have to miss anything out!

Tip: If the weather does get bad, take the opportunity to look around the shops, have a hot drink or a bite to eat while you wait for it to pass.

6. Pack for all eventualities!

Even if you’ve done your homework and checked the weather forecast (see point 3), we all know the weatherman can sometimes surprise us, so savvy Disney-goers should pack some bits to keep them comfy whatever the weather!

  • A waterproof coat or plastic poncho. Even if the rain stops, the outdoor rides may still have wet seats so you can use it to sit on – no-one likes a wet bottom after all.
  • A telescopic umbrella – small enough to pop in your bag, and can double as a sunshade on a hot day!
  • Waterproof shoes – you might not need them, but we all know that flip-flops + rain = slippy slidey disaster.
  • If you’re visiting in the colder seasons, pack cosy hats and gloves as you’ll probably be spending a fair amount of time outdoors.Disneyland Paris in the Snow
