8 Things to know before you visit Siam Park

Things to know before visiting Siam Park

Are you going to Siam Park for the first time and not sure what to expect? Don’t worry; I’ve been in your position – So I’ve put together a list of things I wish I knew on my first visit!

From the food to the ride safety, here are my top tips so you know exactly what to expect when you get to the best water park in the world!

1. You can’t take ANYTHING on the rides

This was one I wished I’d known beforehand!

To ensure everyone is 100% safe, the staff will ask you to remove all loose items before going on the ride; flips flops, sunglasses, essentially everything that’s not your swimsuit is a hazard.

If you wear glasses, you may want to consider wearing contacts for the day as even prescription goggles are forbidden! (you’ll be asked to strap them to your wrist while riding).

You can rent some surf boots from the shops and locker attendant if you’re worried about walking around in bare feet, but generally the paving isn’t too harsh on your feet.

2. Where to leave your stuff & how the lockers work

There are a few locker buildings with rows upon rows of lockers. There you can rent a small locker for €3 a day and a big locker for 5€ (plus 5€ deposit).

Simply return the key at the end of the day to get your deposit back. The key is attached to an adjustable wristband so there’s no danger of you losing it on the rides.

As long as you have your key, you’re welcome to open and close your locker as much as you like. We kept a big bottle of water in our locker so we were able to stay hydrated without having to carry it around!

3. What you can buy with Siam Park vouchers

Siam Park VouchersMany of AttractionTix’s Siam Park tickets include a €5 or €10 per person (depending on which ticket you get), which you’ll receive when you arrive at the park. You can spend them in the bars, restaurants or souvenir shops – just not the locker rooms.

We used ours to buy our lunch – a nice burger, chips and a dessert!Burgers at Siam Park

4. There’s a free bus to Siam Park!

There is a bus that takes you directly to Siam Park. FOR FREE! There’s normally one every 30 minutes and you can also take the bus back to your resort at the end of the day. The handy double decker services Los Cristianos, Las Américas and Costa Adeje. Look out for these signs around your resort:Bus & stop Siam Park

5. You can’t bring food into the park

You’ll be asked if you have any food in your bag on arrival. We raided our hotel buffet in the morning, and packed a mini feast for our lunch. But sadly we had to hand it all over with the exception of our water.

6. Ride the Mekong Rapids BEFORE Kinaree to avoid getting trapped!

These are two of the most popular rides, and are built incredibly close to each other. But not many people realise that once you get to the end of the Mekong Rapids, there is no way to get back to the park unless you go up the stairs to ride Kinaree.

So if you wanted to do Mekong Rapids and go and do the Jungle Snakes for example, you CAN’T. You have to go up the stairs that take you to Kinaree!

So the best thing to do to avoid getting trapped, is to do the Mekong Rapids, follow the stairs up and slide down Kinaree so you can go back into the park.

We did it the other way round and ended up climbing all the way up the stairs and sliding down Kinaree, climbed up the stairs to the Mekong Rapids, then realised we couldn’t get back to the park unless we took the stairs up and did Kinaree again, which I suppose isn’t the worst thing in the world…..

7. Buy a waterproof phone pouch if you want to take photos

Because I didn’t have one of these pouches, I was SO worried that I’d get water in my phone whenever I took it out of the locker.

Although you can’t take anything on the rides (safety rule!), you can take your phone on the beach and take pictures around the park, so having a water proof phone pouch means you don’t have to worry like I did!

8. The best month to visit Siam Park? Probably May

The weather is perfect, and there are no queues! Tenerife is about 25-30°C in May and because it’s still quiet season there were hardly any queues. The busiest ride was Vulcano, but there were only 4 or 5 riders in front of us so only had to wait 1 or 2 rafts before it was our turn.

We managed to do most rides twice on our visit in May! Siam Park starts to get busy in June so it’s advisable to get a ticket that includes Fastpass so you can do more rides.
