9 Signs you’re Holidaying in Orlando

Orlando locals will tell you that living in a city with easy access to world-renowned attractions offers plenty of perks! Here are nine surefire signs you’re holidaying in “The City Beautiful”, plus some of the more unusual things you can do in Orlando during your trip.

1: You can soak up the sunshine (almost) every day

Orlando boasts an average of 233 sunny days a year so you’ll most likely enjoy many consecutive days of sunshine during your trip. Make the most of the great weather with an Orlando Balloon Ride early in the morning.

2: You see people on the street in swimsuits

International Drive runs through several theme parks, hotels, and attractions. It’s also where you’ll find waterparks like Wet ‘n Wild Orlando. Don’t be surprised to see people walking down this street in their swimsuits on any given day!

3: There is seafood galore

Almost all restaurants around Orlando serve fresh seafood caught from the coast or shipped direct from premier vendors. Head over to The Oceanaire Seafood Room on International Drive, MoonFish in Dr. Phillips, or Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. on Universal Boulevard for your fill of fresh seafood.

4: Disney, Disney everywhere

When you’re shopping around Kissimmee and some parts of South Orlando, you’ll find plenty of Disney merchandise. Even Walmart and Target stores have a dedicated Disney section, so don’t limit your search to the parks when the time comes to shop for souvenirs!

5: Traffic on I-4 during Orlando Magic game season means food aplenty

When the Orlando Magic play at the Amway Center in Downtown Orlando, you can expect traffic jams and severe congestion for several miles down Interstate 4. After a game at the Amway Center, you won’t want to miss the chance to grab a gourmet half-pound burger at Hamburger Mary’s Bar & Grille on Church Street.

6: You can enjoy brunch and gospel music on a Sunday

The House of Blues in Downtown Disney hosts a brunch and gospel event every Sunday. It’s one of the few places to catch live music on a Sunday and a great excuse to try some classic Southern food.

7: Poolside service is always an option

Most hotels and resorts around the major attractions offer poolside service year-round. Whether you’re relaxing in a cabana or just lounging by the pool, you can look forward to tropical drinks, light snacks, and other services without leaving your lounger!

8: Everyone is friendly and interested

Restaurant and hotel employees will ask you where you’re from, but you might also get that question from grocery store clerks, gas station attendants, and even some store employees. Be prepared to talk about your trip so far and possibly share some personal info.

9: Whatever the time of year, there is always a special event

Orlando hosts dozens of live events and performances throughout the year, including the Treasure Tavern Dinner Show, and the Blue Man Group, and a great roster of events at the Amway Center. With such an array of talent, you might find yourself discovering Orlando institutions or the next big show any night of the week!
