The city of Beverly Hills embodies luxury and dazzles any visitor who sets foot onto its very shiny streets. Spend about five minutes in Beverly Hills and you will quickly discover why it is home to the ridiculously rich and famous!
Multi-million dollar mansions with flashy cars parked out front on the palm tree-lined streets are not an unusual sight in the exclusive 90210 neighborhood. On Rodeo Drive, while only two miles long, you will find top designer shops selling everything from couture dresses to the latest handbags. Make sure you are armed with a credit card or at least some self-control! Or just indulge in some window-shopping, which is just as popular as celebrity-spotting.
One of the best ways to really discover the glamorous side of Beverly Hills is a guided tour of the Movie Stars’ homes. Some favorites include the iconic pink-and-green Beverly Hills Hotel which opened in 1912, before Beverly Hills was even named a city. This luxurious hotel has had its fair share of celebrities and even royal guests in the past. Rumor has it that their Polo Lounge is a favorite with many huge A-list stars, especially on the weekdays – plus they serve a fantastic afternoon tea and brunch!
The number of beautiful homes you will see while cruising the streets of Beverly Hills are endless. However, there is one in particular that seems a bit out of place; you might recognise The Spadena Home, also known as The Witch’s House, from several Hollywood films including 1995’s Clueless.
Speaking of Hollywood films, it would be a shame to leave out The Beverly Wilshire Hotel which was the primary filming location for Pretty Woman starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. The architecture of this historic hotel, as well as most of the surrounding buildings, has a very big-city, European feel to it.
