Our Guide to the Top Theme Parks in Benidorm

Benidorm Theme Parks

There’s a reason that Benidorm is known as “Blackpool in the sun”. There are loads of similarities – long stretches of beach, a raucous party scene, and £1.99 full English breakfasts aplenty.

But there’s a lot more to Benidorm than the stereotypical “Brits abroad” experience. More and more families are choosing to get away from the crowded bars, all-inclusive hotels and “looky looky men” on Levante beach, and head for some good old-fashioned fun at the many theme parks that Benidorm has to offer.

From splashtastic water slides to stomach-churning rollercoasters, the Spanish capital of fun has it all. Here’s why visiting a theme park (or more!) should be top of your list of things to do in Benidorm on your next holiday to the Costa Blanca.

Terra Mitica – Home of the White-Knuckle Ride

Terra Mitica

If adrenaline-pumping thrill rides are your thing, then Terra Mitica – Benidorm’s answer to Alton Towers – should be your first port of call.

It’s got plenty of exhilarating attractions to keep the biggest daredevils happy, not least Titanide, an inverted rollercoaster with so many high-speed twists and turns that it’s recommended you take off your shoes!

Other main attractions include Synkope, a 35m spinning swing ride, and Flight of the Phoenix, a 54m vertical fall that drops you all the way down in a rapid 3 seconds – not for the faint hearted.

Aside from the thrill rides, there are lots of gentler attractions on offer at the park, as well as some awesome shows featuring acrobats, gladiators, dancers and more.

Aqualandia & Mundomar – Full of Watery Wonders

Aqualandia Spain

What better way to cool off than to visit Europe’s biggest water park, Aqualandia? With lagoons, rapids, wave pools, slides and waterfalls, there’s plenty of aquatic fun for all the family.

For 2014 the park has added a new star attraction. VERTI-GO is the world’s tallest capsule slide, where brave riders face a terrifying wait to be dropped through a trap-door without warning into a freefall of 33m. Apparently the trick is to not look down!

Aqualandia’s sister park Mundomar is an entirely more relaxed experience, allowing you to get up close and personal with all manner of marine wildlife. Prepare to be amazed by the acrobatics at the live dolphin shows, and enjoy exotic birds in all their glory at the Free Flight show.

And if you’re a fan of the TV adverts for a certain insurance comparison site, don’t miss the meerkat enclosure!

Terra Natura – Experience “Zooimmersion”

Benidorm’s Terra Natura Wildlife Park is all about the “zooimmersion” experience – giving you the chance to get close to 1000s of exotic creatures without the feeling of having a barrier between you.

Of course there are barriers really (otherwise you may get closer to a lion than you would like), but they’re so discreet it’s like you’re in amongst the animals.

Kids and animal lovers alike will love it here, with tigers, elephants, snakes, monkeys, and even armadillos on show. The park is split into four areas – Europe, Asia, America, and Pangea, each with their own distinctive flora and fauna.

There’s also a water park called Aqua Natura onsite, complete with water chutes, kids’ play areas, beach bars and even a spa.

Combo Tickets – A Great Way to Save Money

If you intend to visit more than one of these fabulous Benidorm theme parks, we’d recommend you buy a combo ticket to save yourself a bit of cash. Not only are they better value, but it’s less hassle than buying them all separately.

And the best thing is, with Benidorm having the best microclimate in the Mediterranean, you’re virtually guaranteed glorious weather for your trip to the parks. Enjoy!
