Castle Howard & Moors Tour from York

Famously used in the film and TV adaptations of Brideshead Revisited, Castle Howard is the county’s best-known stately home and the former seat of the Earls of Carlisle.

Accompanied by a local guide, this Castle Howard tour from York sets off from a convenient central meeting point and journeys across the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside to the delightful market town of Helmsley and there is also an opportunity to visit Rievaulx Abbey before heading to the Castle Howard estate.

On entering the incredible 18th century house you’ll be joined by the estate’s own expert guides, who will take you on a journey back in time as they share fascinating stories and information about the estate.

You’ll have at least 3½ hours to explore the estate at your own pace after a brief introduction from your guide, where you can:

  • Explore the entire 9,000-acre estate, including the house, grounds and gardens at your own pace.
  • Walk past the south lake and along the terrace to visit the stunning Temple of the Four Winds
