Explore the mystical Tulum Ruins, one of the world’s most beautiful archaeological dig sites, and Tankah Eco-Park where you’ll kayak, swim and cross the largest lagoon in the Mayan Riviera by zip-line!
The Tulum Ruins, said to be one of the most beautiful archaeological sites in the world, is perched high on a clifftop with the glittering Caribbean Sea as a backdrop.
Once a walled fortress (“tulum” means “wall” in Mayan), the site dates back to the 12th century when it was one of the few trading ports still inhabited by the great Mayan civilisation before the Spaniards arrived.
Whilst at Tulum Ruins, enjoy a one and a half hour guided tour and learn more of the history of the Mayans. Your experienced guide will point out all the historically significant areas of the site, including the famous castle and Temple of Masks.
After the tour, enjoy some free time for exploring the site at your leisure.
All that exploration will have helped build up an appetite, so a delightful buffet lunch will be served to keep up your energy levels for what is to come! Indulge in tasty regional dishes, including handmade tortillas.
Refreshed and ready to go, you’ll head to Tankah Eco-Park next, which nestles in the lush Mayan jungle.
Expect a warm welcome by the native people who will come bearing fresh water and delicious fruits as a prelude to the next part of your Mayan journey.
You’ll be able to explore the Park’s four distinct Cenotes – “breathing holes” of the world’s largest underground river system!
When you reach the largest lagoon in the Mayan Riviera, expect an aerial adventure – a zip-line crossing at a height of over 210m, offering amazing views of the jungle floor far below!
Back on terra firma, spend some time cooling off and relaxing by kayaking and swimming in the lagoon, before beginning the scenic journey back to your hotel.
